It was published today, in Diário da República, Law no. 85/2019, which revokes the internuptial period institute foreseen in the Portuguese Civil Code.
Therefore, among other legal provisions included in several legislation, Law no. 85/2019 revoked article 1604, parahraph b), article 1605 and no. 1 of article 1650 of the Portuguese Civil Code, thus reducing the matrimonial impediment’s grounds in Portugal.
Law no. 85/2019 enters in force at 1 October 2019.
